Why it is on this guide

Crestone is one of the 21 certified places promoted through the official Colorado Stargazing Trail. I keep the certification and the visitor experience separate: certification tells us something important about lighting and stewardship, while this page asks what a traveler can actually do here after dark.

What I am checking

Where a visitor can legally and comfortably be after dark.
Whether astronomy programming is recurring, seasonal, occasional or not currently offered.
What nearby lodging, food, fuel and restrooms make the stop practical.
How moonlight, local lighting, weather, elevation and horizon affect the experience.
Whether the official links still lead to something a traveler can use.

I have not logged this official stop as complete yet. Until I do, planning information should be treated as researched guidance and checked against the managing source before travel.
